How we work

  • At Sherpa we trust our teams to deliver in their roles. This is reflected in how we work.
  • We encourage autonomy. We have a clear structure, roles, and accountabilities, whilst encouraging our people to get involved in broader projects, helping each other, and learning new things. We trust our teams to get on with what they need to do, and we measure to outputs and achievement of our business goals.
  • We operate a flexible approach to working hours, through a core hours model with the flexibility to choose when you work outside of these hours. As long as our clients’ needs are met, we are happy!
  • We operate a hybrid approach to working. Monday and Thursday are collaboration days when we work together in the office, with the rest of the week being personal choice. Some of the team chose to come in every day, whilst others enjoy the flexibility to work from home. All we ask is that everyone ensures they make time to help others, particularity those new to the business or industry.
  • We are digitally savvy and adopt the latest tools and tech to make our lives easier, we are always open to suggestions and new ideas on how we can improve our processes.

Professional development

At Sherpa we are committed to your development. Our organisational structure is designed to help you grow and be challenged.

We build mentorship responsibilities into our roles, therefore new starters will have support from more experienced peers to help them on their journey.

We provide financial support for training and development, this may be to enhance your existing skills, to help you on your career path or study for a qualification.

We pay competitive remuneration for all our roles. We regularly benchmark to ensure we are in line with the market. We regularly recognise the achievements of our team members. Be that through our quarterly values awards, peer to peer Kudos call outs or impromptu thank you parties. Our employee benefits are designed to focus on and support your wellbeing, and are always being added to, currently these include;

  • Health Benefits: We work with Benenden Health to provide a healthcare plan for our employees. This includes access to private medical diagnostic and treatment, as well as physio and mental health support.
  • Financial planning and advice: We provide financial planning and educational support to our employees through Lifetime's innovative services. This allows our employees to build a financial plan and have access to financial advice, as well as regular educational updates, helping them manage their financial matters.
  • EV Car Scheme: Octopus' EV car scheme is available to our employees through salary sacrifice, resulting in significant savings when buying a new EV car.
  • Leave: We provide 31 days (including bank holidays) holiday each year (rising to 33 days with service). In addition, we have Sherpa Days to be used when there is something significant happening in your life.
  • Fun: Those that play together, stay together. We regularly have socials and team events.

Each year we work with a selected charity and support them as a team, through financial and physical support. The team are involved in selecting the charity and deciding how we will support.

Environmental. Our initiatives in this space are driven through our CSR employee group.
